Ben...Baton Rouge Child Portraits

I had the opportunity to first meet Ben about a year and a half ago when we did some portraits of him at his home by the LSU lakes.

While hanging out with Ben a couple weeks ago, I was reminded of how special it is to get to do shoots at the client's home. Especially for child or family portraits, it makes such a huge difference to have familiar people, toys, and environment to get great shots. There comes a time when a child realizes that you're there to take photos of them, and that can sometimes be something to warm up to...

and at times never grown out of just as I still sometimes don't like my photo to be taken:)

Ben warmed up to the idea of me being there quite quickly once we started playing together on his tree house/swing set.

It's not too shabby to get to play with kids and by doing so get some great images for them to have.

Check out Ben's photos and as you plan for your family portraits..consider having them taken at home or somewhere around town that you frequent as a family especially if you have toddlers or older. Beyond everyone feeling real comfortable, it's pretty special to have natural and memorable moments captured at home.

Sofia, Naomi, Julia, and Elliott

Happy Friday!

I'm hoping these photos (of some of THE cutest kids of alllll time) will bring even more joy on this sunny Friday!

Sofia, Naomi, Julia, and Elliott are the children of two of my dearest friends at church.

Their dad, Barrett, was pretty outnumbered for several years, but not anymore.

Elliott Jude Black showed up about 2 months ago and is indeed as his mom says

"15 lbs of dreaminess!"

Grayson is 1 year old!

I love this time of year!

Consistent Christmas music listening officially started this week.

Thanksgiving is next week...which for me means several days in the mountains with the family.

And kids look cuter than ever this time of year!

It's the time when I get to hang out with so many families and celebrate with them what giving thanks, giving gifts, and getting older really means.

Baby!!

You may recognize the following BABY! from a while back.

Payton Pierce is her name...

and once again I'm about to challenge you to not smile/laugh/really really want a baby in your hands after seeing these photos

you can't do it..

Amy looooves photography and learning new ways to work her camera. I met the Pierce's at my church (South Baton Rouge Pres., come join us!) a while back, but I really got to know them by getting to use Amy as my very own guinea pig!

Eager to learn all about photography, Amy was my first attempt at showing first hand how to capture people's story with a lens.

And..while I have a lot to learn about teaching, ironically enough, I fell in love with a certain someone being in front of that lens while tagging along with her mom.

Jason wanted to get Amy something she'd wanted for a while for mother's day...a super fun downtown photo shoot!

I of course couldn't complain...

Jason and Amy, you have no idea what a photogenic family you have. Thanks for the opportunity to teach and spend time with you.

Payton, you're too beautiful. We all can't take it.

Where in the World...

...is Claire Elyse Photography??

so I've been a bit M.I.A.

But still taking oh so many pictures..

seriously.

I'll be posting for a while all the stuff I should have posted all these last few months

I've had two amazing/educational conferences in New Orleans and Las Vegas

spent a few months on a thesis project for school (now an official graduate of LSU's Art and Design program!!)

took a few trips in there

and God has been so good to bless this business with many clients for the New Year

lots to be excited about in this next year...so don't give up on me and keep checking

but first...some pictures of my cousin's children we took at Thanksgiving.

I'll give you hundreds of dollars if you can successfully refrain from smiling when looking at these kids...

Matt and Eryn

I headed to the great metropolis that is Ethel, LA for this one!

We got to hang out at the home of a sweet family letting us transform their front and back yards into a studio. I really love it when people are willing to let that happen.

Matt and Eryn officially started dating 8 years ago and have been married for over a year now!

these two recently found out a little one is the way

The Martins

About a month ago I had the  privilege of taking the Martins' family photographs. Josh Martin is my campus minister through RUF at LSU. He and his family have impacted my life in ways they'll never really know so, needless to say, it was an honor  to spend some time snapping shots of them having some fun together and with Sarah Parks's family. It's refreshing to see families like these interact. These kids know how to have fun!
